Dr. Dominik Nowak

As a family physician, Dr. Dominik Nowak understands the responsibility of health, community and business leaders to work across disciplines to build a brighter future for the next generation.

In 2020, Dr. Nowak joined TELUS as Chief Medical Advisor and Chair of the Medical Advisory Council. In this capacity, he drives collaboration among a cross-functional team of experts to mount a science-based and compassionate response to emerging health issues. He is a trusted advisor to senior leaders across TELUS and its partner organizations in navigating a complex and evolving health landscape, including health systems strategy, healthcare policy, workplace safety, digital health, ventures and corporate citizenship. Through COVID-19, the mission of the Medical Advisory Council is to promote the health of team members globally, role model proactive workplace policy and uphold thoughtful social impact.

Beyond his leadership at TELUS, Dr. Nowak is a practicing family physician and a faculty member at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, the Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Institute for Pandemics at the University of Toronto. He trained at McMaster University, where he specialized in family medicine and served as chief resident. Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Nowak is a recognized leader in primary care and health systems strategy. He finished a Master of Health Administration at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto, and holds a Certified Health Executive designation by the Canadian College of Health Leaders. Whether at his family practice, in advocacy for healthy policy or as a leader at TELUS, Dr. Nowak’s professional mission is to promote health in the communities he serves.
